The Infertility Treatment Authority maintains Registers relating to Donor Conception in Victoria. These Registers record information about people involved in Donor Conception and enable the release of this information to other parties in certain circumstances.
The Central Registers have operated since July 1988, and record information about births arising from the use of donor sperm, eggs or embryos. When a parent advises the treating clinic that a child has been born as a result of donor treatment, the clinic then forwards information about the parents, the donor, and the child who has been born, to the Infertility Treatment Authority. This information is recorded on one of two Central Registers, depending on when the donor consented to donation.
The ITA also maintains Voluntary Registers, which enable the exchange of information between people who have been involved in Donor Conception in Victoria. These registers are voluntary and relate to all donor conception occurring before and after 1988. If you require any further information please contact the Registers Officer, Kate Dobby on (03) 8601-5250 or kdobby@ita.org.au.
